Asian shares are mixed overnight as markets digest the latest policy statements by the FED chair, Jerome Powell. The Hang Seng is trading 188 points higher after a holiday yesterday.
Good earnings had pushed the S+P to yet another record high at the opening bell and hopes that the FED would signal a rate cut in 2019 pushed the market higher still.
Unfortunately, Powell did not oblige signaling instead that the FED was comfortable with the existing policy and that no rate changes were on the horizon. DOW futures fell over 200 points on the news before recovering slightly this morning.
After a holiday yesterday, expect the DAX to open 50 points lower at the opening bell
